Live Free or Die Hard
Anyone who likes Bruce Willis or liked the original Die Hard, should be pleased and surprised by this DVD. The action is from start to finish. The special effects are fantastic. It's worth the money for your collection. Artie
McClane Is Back!!!
The Story: The FBI network is hacked by Cyber Terrorists, John McClane is called in by the NYPD to pick up a well known hacker Matt Farrell, only to find out Farrell is a target of these Cyber Terrorists, who Matt helped build a program which could bring down the entire United States. McClane is dragged into a world of violence and pain to which he is only too familiar, the only problem is he has to bring Matt along for the ride for him to use his hacking skills to bring down the terrorists.
These Cyber Terrorists are lead by Thomas Gabriel who, after 9/11 informed the US government that their entire defence network was too vulnerable to attack, only to have the government throw it back in his face. He wants to seek revenge against the government and show them his computer skills when he goes about taking out all the traffic, stock, defence and utility networks in the United States. Gabriel has only one problem that can't be stopped with a computer...
John McClane.
The Review: All that has to be said about this film is WOW!!! This really surprised me as I was expecting it to be a typical attempt at reinventing an old school classic series, but god was I wrong. This, from the very beginning was extremely reminiscent of the old school Die Hard films, the minute John was on screen you felt like the man as back. The gun toting psychopathic cop was ready to save his country and his family and he was letting nothing get in his way. I absolutely loved Willis in this film and he really got back into the McClane role, when he hit the floor or got punched in the face he would either laugh or give us some old school one liner. One of these was at the start of the movie when a bomb went off in Farrells apartment McClane said "That's gonna wake the neighbours" or in another part of the movie it truly went old school when we heard John yell, "Yipee Ki Yo Ki Yay Mother F***er." These just made me laugh with glee and left me wanting more.
There were parts when I thought the action was a bit overdone and a bit too large scale for a Die Hard movie, but it was all in the advancement of the series and the projection of John McClane being truly invincible.
This was also a great film to display to us the new and fresh acting talent out there. Timothy Olyphant as Thomas Gabriel, Justin Long as Matt Farrell or Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Lucy McClane. These are all future greats and to act aside an action movie legend like Willis is truly a massive stepping stone in their career.
I loved this film and I know a lot of old school fans will love it too, I think a 5th Die Hard could be pulled off and I hope we see it sooner, rather than later.
what a rush, but those of you who need a little bit of reality and/or logic to their action probably won't like it
this ,the 4th installment of the Die hard franchise is easily the most
thrilling and action packed.however, logic and reality are thrown out
the window for the action scenes.if you like your action with a little
bit of realty and logic, you won't like this movie.but for me,the movie
was so fun,i didn't care.but beyond being just a slam bang action
thrill ride it's also very relevant and thought provoking.if the
technology that society almost totally depend on were to completely
crash, how would you react, and hoe would the general public react.this
movie gives one hypothetical example of the answer to that
question.it's great to see this installment is geared more towards our
techno savvy contemporary audience.but it's also still great for
audiences that grew up with the franchise. not only is this a thrilling
and thought provoking movie, but it's also very funny, possibly the
funniest of all four movies.for me,Live Free or Die Hard is a perfect
5/5 for sheer excitement alone.the rest is just gravy.
